I am a cyclist living in Lubbock, TX, and this blog is dedicated to my newest cycling adventure...recumbent riding on my new Baron low racer. In spite of a great deal of criticism from my cycling buddies, I am committed wholeheartedly to the "bent" lifestyle.
Way to go! The more you ride hills, the better you get. Recumbents on hills is definitely a different technique requiring strength, power and high cadence. Also not everything is equal. Getting up hills quickly has a lot to do with mass and incline. It is better for me to compare total bike and rider mass rather than type of bike. My Baron Optima Raptor is 9.6kg bare and I weigh 83kg, for a total 92.6kg. I can just keep up with my buddies who weigh in at a total of 70 to 80kg. I reckon I am doing well. Brad
